Tandoori Nuts
1/2 cup low fat plain yogurt
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
3 tbsp. curry powder
2 tbsp. cumin
2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. cardamom
3/4 tsp. ground hot red pepper or cayenne
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 lb. nuts, pecans, walnuts, or a combination of both
Preheat oven to 275° F.
Combine yogurt, butter, and spices in a large bowl. Add pecans and
walnuts, toss in mix till nuts are well coated. Spread nuts in a large,
shallow baking pan.
Bake nuts uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour or till nuts are golden. Cool comletely.
Store in tightly covered container.
These nuts are spicy, but look like they might be sweet. Careful when
serving these around children.
