11/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
2 Tbsp butter
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cream of tartar
3 or 4 Tbsp flavored gelatin (Jello)

Preheat the oven to 250o.

Place the popcorn in a large 4 inch baking pan. Keep it warm in the oven. Cut 2 large pieces of waxed paper to fit 2 cookie sheets. Lightly butter the wax paper.

In a large saucepan combine the sugar, corn syrup, butter, salt and cream of tartar. Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Cook, without stirring, until the mixture reaches 250o on a candy thermometer. Stir in the gelatin powder and continue cooking for about a minute until the mixture reaches 260o. Remove from heat. Stir in the baking soda quickly but thoroughly.

Remove the popcorn from the oven. Pour the syrup mixture at once while foamy, over the popcorn. Mix gently to coat the popcorn. Bake at 200o for 1 hour, stirring 2 or 3 times. Turn our on the buttered wax paper and let cool completely. Separate into small pieces. Store in and air tight container.
