Sausage and Kraut Soup

4 slices bacon, cut into 1" pieces
1/2 pound boneless pork, cubed
1/4 Cup chopped onion
1/2 pound polish sausage, sliced
1/4 Cup dry white wine
1 (4 oz.) can sliced mushrooms (undrained)
1 1/2 tsp. beef boullion granules
3/4 tsp. paprika
1 bay leaf
1 (16 oz.) can sauerkraut, drained
2 TBS. cornstarch


In a large saucepan (3 qt. or better) cook bacon till crisp. Drain, reserve drippings, set aside.

Brown pork cubes and onion in reserved drippings. Stir in cooked bacon, polish sausage, wine, mushrooms, bullion, paprika, bay leaf and 2 1/2 Cup water. Cover, simmer 1 hour or until pork is tender. Remove bay leaf; discard.

Stir in sauerkraut.

Stir 1/4 Cup cold water into cornstarch. Add to sauerkraut mixture and stir till thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 1-2 minutes more.

Serves 4-6
