Almost-as-Good-as-Grandma's Crock-Pot Stew
1 onion, finely chopped
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. majoram
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 pounds lean stewing beef, cut in 1" cubes
4 cups peeled, cubed potatoes
1 cup sliced celery
4 medium carrots, sliced
1 can (10 oz.) condensed beef broth
1/4 cup water
1 cup frozen peas
Saute onion in a bit of oil until translucent; set aside.
In a small bowl, combine flour, salt, garlic powder, majoram and pepper.
Place meat in crockpot. Sprinkle flour mixture over meat while stirring to coat.
Add onions, potatoes, celery, carrots, condensed beef broth and water. Stir to mix well.
Cook on HIGH for 3-1/2 hours. Stir in peas. Cook additional 1/2 hour.
Serves 6.
Note: If you want a slightly thicker gravy, sprinkle in a small amount of instant blending flour and stir to blend.
Cook a little while longer to thicken.
If you want a richer looking gravy, just stir in a tiny amount of gravy browning.
