Cabbage: Bavarian Red Cabbage

Bavarian Red Cabbage (crockpot)

1 small head red cabbage, washed and coarsely sliced
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
2-3 tart apples, cored and quartered
2 ts salt
1 cup hot water
1-1/2 T granulated sugar
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1 T bacon grease or butter


Place all ingredients in crockpot in order listed. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or on high for 3 hours. Stir well before serving.
